Lux InsideOut
the heart of europe in your hands

3 countries and 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites

I will pick you up at a prearranged location (your hotel, any place in the City or outside) and we will spend the day driving to various sites in the Greater Region.

The beginning of this tour will take a very medieval turn. From Luxembourg, itself a City with a History dating back to the year 963, we will drive to Rodemack, a french village that kept its medieval flair and is a 30 minutes drive away. A fair takes place for a week end every summer where craftspeople from all over Europe showcase their trade, troubadours and circus artists roam the streets for entertainment, and medieval food is served at stands across the town. We will spend a good hour getting an idea for life of a thousand years ago.

Then we will drive to the castle of the Dukes of Lorraine in Sierck-les-Bains, a castle dating back to the 15th century in its present form. After life in a village, this visit will give us an idea of the life of local nobility.

The site of Schengen is next on our list. A very short drive from Sierck-les-Bains, it is the site chosen to commemorate the signing of the famous Schengen agreement. These, as is less known, happened on a boat. With a little luck, we may even see it cruising up and down the Moselle river !

By then, it will be time for lunch (not included in the price). We will drive along the Moselle river and its vineyards, to stop in the german village of Nittel. Expect tasty but filling german village cuisine !

The end of the tour will bring us in Trier, famous for its Porta Nigra dating back to Roman times, and its massive Cathedral. Trier is reputedly the eldest german city on record, and many street names still bear traces of medieval trading customs.
We will arrive sometime at early afternoon and I will guide you through the city, showing places of interest and shopping places. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to spend the rest of the afternoon and early evening strolling freely throuigh the town, discovering at your own pace.

We will leave Trier by early evening - expect maybe 6 or 7pm, depending on the free time you will need. The drive back is about an hour.
Entrance fees to museums and sights are included but openings are subject to seasonal changes. Light food and drinks are included too.
Departure at no later than 9:00 am. Duration of tour up to 12 hours. Tour can, of course, be modified according to participants' requests
